Procedure to install Skype in Ubuntu
Step1: Open terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T)
Step2: Type the below command and hit Enter
sudo apt-get install libqt4-dbus libqt4-network libqt4-xml libasound2
Step3: Enter the system administrator password and hit Enter.
Step4: After all the dependencies are downloaded, choose anyone of the commands below based on your operating system size (32 or 64 bit).
wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-ubuntu-32
OR
wget http://www.skype.com/go/getskype-linux-beta-ubuntu-64
If you have are confused about which version(32 or 64 bit) to download, can find out if it is 32 bit or 64 bit by using the command.
uname -m
Result: x86_64
In the above result, the last two digits tell you if it is 32 or 64 bit linux.
From the above result, it is obvious that it is 64bit.
sudo dpkg -i getskype-*
Step6: Type the below command and hit Enter.
sudo apt-get -f install
Step7: After Skype is installed, Open DASH (press Windows Key ) and enter the word SKYPE
Click on the skype icon that gets displayed in the results window.
in the search box on the right hand top side.
